Caring for Your LarchSmith Board

With thoughtful care, your Larchsmith board will reward you with a lifetime of service and beauty. Crafted to endure, it is designed not merely to be used, but to be cherished.

Care Guidance

Each board is meticulously handcrafted by EkSe Handcrafted in Maidenhead, UK, from indigenous Eastern Canadian Larch. With proper care, it will age gracefully and serve for generations.

  • Never submerge the board in water

  • Do not place in a dishwasher

  • Avoid exposure to concentrated or prolonged heat

  • Never place hot pots, pans, or skillets directly onto the surface

Maintenance

To allow the wood to acclimatise naturally to your home or professional environment, your board should be seasoned upon arrival.
Apply EkSe Board Butter to all surfaces once a week for the first month. Once fully seasoned, a monthly application is sufficient to nourish the wood and prevent the fibres from drying.

Using a lint‑free cloth, apply a generous layer to the top, sides, and underside. Allow the butter to absorb for several hours—ideally overnight—before gently buffing to a soft, natural finish.

Cleaning

After use, wipe clean with a damp cloth or sponge. For stubborn or sticky residue, a small amount of mild washing-up liquid may be used with the textured side of a sponge, holding the board briefly under warm running water. Dry thoroughly.

Storage

Store your board away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure it is completely dry before placing it in a cupboard or drawer.
