Terms & Conditions: EkSeHandcrafted

1. The Contract

By placing an order with Larchsmith, a trading name of EkSe Handcrafted, you enter into a contract for the purchase of a handcrafted culinary board. Each piece is made in limited quantities, subject to timber availability and workshop capacity. We reserve the right to decline or cancel orders where production constraints require it.

2. Nature of the Product – Artisan Variance

2.1 Natural Material Statement

Every Larchsmith board is handcrafted from natural Canadian Larch (Larix laricina), often referred to as Tamarack. Wood is an organic, responsive material, and each board reflects its origin.

By purchasing, you acknowledge that:

  • Variations in grain pattern, colour, density, and natural luminance (chatoyancy) are intrinsic characteristics of the timber.

  • These features are not imperfections, but the signatures of authentic material and handcraft.

2.2 Dimensional Integrity

Precision CNC machining is used to achieve consistent proportions; however, final hand‑finishing may result in minor dimensional variances of up to ±2mm. Such tolerances are considered acceptable and non‑defective within the context of handcrafted production.

3. Pricing & Payment

All prices are stated in GBP (£).
For limited Batch Releases, items are secured only once payment has been successfully processed. Due to the finite nature of each release, items are not reserved in baskets or on hold.

4. Stewardship & Care Responsibilities

Larchsmith boards are designed to endure when treated with appropriate stewardship.

As with all fine timber objects, guarantees and remedies cannot extend to damage arising from conditions outside intended kitchen use, including but not limited to:

  • Exposure to dishwashers or high‑temperature cleaning

  • Prolonged contact with water or standing moisture

  • Placement near direct heat sources

  • Storage in environments subject to extreme or rapidly fluctuating humidity

  • Absence of periodic conditioning using food‑grade mineral oil or equivalent

A Care Guide is provided with every board and forms part of the ownership experience.

5. The Larchsmith Guarantee

5.1 Craftsmanship Guarantee

Each board is supported by a 12‑month structural guarantee against delamination, reflecting our confidence in both materials and method. Where a qualifying fault arises despite appropriate care, Larchsmith will, at its discretion, repair or replace the item.

This guarantee:

  • Applies only to the original purchaser

  • Is non‑transferable

  • Is offered in addition to, and does not replace, statutory rights

5.2 Faulty Goods (Consumer Rights Act 2015)

In accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015, if a structural fault develops within six months of delivery and cannot be attributed to care or environmental factors, the item will be repaired or replaced at no cost.

Damage arising from misuse or conditions outlined in Section 4 is excluded.

6. Cancellation, Returns & Distance Selling

6.1 Standard Items

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, you may cancel your order within 14 days of receiving your goods.

To qualify for a refund:

  • The board must be unused, unseasoned by the customer, and returned in its original premium packaging

  • Return shipping must be tracked and is the responsibility of the customer

6.2 Bespoke & Commissioned Pieces

Boards produced to custom dimensions, specifications, or bearing personalised engravings are exempt from discretionary (“change of mind”) returns, except where a fault is present. This reflects their made‑to‑order nature and is consistent with UK consumer law.

7. Bespoke Commissions & Deposits

A 50% non‑refundable deposit is required for bespoke or custom‑dimension commissions. Once production has commenced, commissions cannot be cancelled. This ensures material availability and production scheduling for individually tailored work.

8. Use & Personal Safety

Larchsmith boards are finished exclusively with food‑safe, non‑toxic products and are suitable for domestic and professional kitchens. As with all precision culinary tools, safe knife use remains the responsibility of the owner.

Nothing within these terms seeks to exclude or limit liability where such limitation would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury arising from negligence.

9. Delivery

All items are dispatched via tracked courier services. While estimated delivery windows are provided in good faith, EkSe Handcrafted cannot be held responsible for delays arising from third‑party carriers or events beyond reasonable control.

10. Intellectual Property

All designs, product names, collection titles (including The Executive, The Everyday, and The Entertainer), imagery, logos, and branding associated with Larchsmith and EkSe Handcrafted remain their exclusive intellectual property. Unauthorised commercial use is prohibited.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
